Women of the Woods or WoW has monthly gatherings for women to enable them to connect with the natural world. Most gatherings are hikes in the woods of central Connecticut. We take the time to admire the beauty around us, experience some quiet time in nature, and enjoy each others company.

Girls Outside

Our monthly Women of the Woods hikes are for adults and oocasionally girls. We also have Girls Outside, a program focused on connecting girls with the natural world. Currerntly we have occaisional after school Girls Outside programs at four Middletown elementary schools. These programs are made possible by a grant from the Community Foundation of Middlesex County's Sari A. Rosenbaum Fund for Women & Girls and our dedicated volunteers. The Community Foundation of Middlesex County also provides support for Women of the Woods and other Everyone Outside Programs.

Water Falls in January

We had an unusually warm day for our January WoW hike at Wadsworth Falls State Park, so there was no ice on the falls (See Everyone Outside Blog 1-27-13 for gorgeous ice photos). The warm weather brought melting and lots of water flowing over the Big Falls where we began our hike. (Notice people in upper right of photo for scale.)

Mt. Pisgah, Durham Sunset Hike

Our WoW hike to the top on Mt. Pisgah, Durham was definitely a hike to remember. It was over cast so it was not too hot and we had fun group of women. We started at the trailhead at the end of Cream Pot road and explored the area near Mt. Pisgah.
